50-gallon Blue Drum/Rain Barrel Orders

Thanks for expressing interest in getting a rain barrel for your home! For a list of FAQ please see further down the page, past the orders section. The deadline for orders closed June 2.

We have a limited number of 50-gallon blue drums to give out and have volunteers to help convert them into rain barrels for us. If you only need the 50-gallon blue drum as is (not rain barrel ready and no diverter kit) please email Casey at volunteer@lakewingra.org to reserve it. For all other orders, please review the order options that follow and choose the correct option on the drop down menu below. If we end up selling out, you can also email Casey to get added to a waitlist.

Rain Barrel Order Options

Reminder, if you only need the 50-gallon blue drum as is (not rain barrel ready and no diverter kit) please email Casey at volunteer@lakewingra.org to reserve it. We do not have an online order option for this. All other options are below.

50 gal Blue Drum & Diverter Kit (Rain Barrel Ready)

This option means our volunteers will convert the 50-gallon blue drum into a ready-to-install rain barrel for you. They will use the diverter kit to do this. You will receive the remains of the diverter kit which include installation instructions for you to hook it up at home. $24 (face value of diverter kit)

50 gal Blue Drum & Diverter Kit (Not Rain Barrel Ready)

This option allows you to do the conversion yourself. You will receive a diverter kit and a 50-gallon blue drum with no work done to the drum. The kit comes with installation instructions and all the tools (minus power drill) to convert it and hook it up at home. $24 (face value of diverter kit)

DIY Rain Barrel Diverter Kit Only

If you do not need a 50-gallon blue drum and just want the diverter kit, please select the w/o 50-gal drum option. $24 (face value of diverter kit)

FAQs for Rain Barrel Orders & Pick Up

What type of rain barrels or accessories can I order? You will see a few different order options above when you click on the drop down menu. You can either order (1) the 50-gal drum converted into a rain barrel, (2) the 50-gal drum as is and the diverter kit to DIY, (3) only the diverter kit without the 50-gal drum, or (4) just the 50-gallon drum with no diverter kit. The order page provides more information. You will pay $24 for the diverter kit for the first three options. The $24 covers the face value of what it costs us to obtain the diverter kit. We are not making money off of this. If you only need the 50-gallon drum, it is free, but you still need to reserve it.

What happens if I order the drum to be converted? We have a wonderful group of cub scouts that will be volunteering their time to help convert the 50-gallon drums into rain barrels using the diverter kit you purchase. You will receive the remains of your diverter kit which includes instructions on how to install it to your downspout. You will need to do the installation or hire someone to install it at home for you. We do not have the resources to provide this for you at this point.

How/when will I receive my rain barrel? The cub scouts will work on the rain barrels the afternoon of Saturday, June 19 at Blessed Sacrament.  We will coordinate a pickup time with you for that afternoon or the evening of June 22. Even if you do not want a converted rain barrel, you will still need to go pick up your 50-gallon blue drum (or other items) at that site. We do not have the capacity to coordinate different pickups.
